This course is designed for those who have an interest in a more in depth knowledge in canine nutritional requirements. It will benefit both breeders and pet owners alike and take a complete look at what is required from a nutritional stance to maintain optimum health , fitness and longevity. The student will be encouraged to take a look at various diets and compare them for best decisions in choosing what best suits them and their animals.

 

Course Description
By completion of this course the student will know the importance of Canine Nutrition and how to develop healthy eating and maintenance diets. Some of the topics covered are the physiology of digestion and evolutionary diets, Nutritional requirements and signs of deficiency, Building blocks of basic nutrition, Comparison of different diets, Dangers of over nutrition, Ways nutrition affects your dog's behaviour, Elimination of common diseases by diet, Diets and supplements for specific medical conditions, Relationship of nutrition to development of skeletal diseases in dogs, Disorders of mineral metabolism in pups and juvenile dogs, Pregnancy and lactation nutritional requirements, Puppy rearing diets, lifestage variances and how to manage them.

Course duration:
On average 8 months home study. Maximum Time allowed 24 months from purchase date.

Qualification on completion.
MDBA Certificate of Achievement. More on qualification. More on accreditation 

This course is a compulsory subject  of the MDBA Diploma Course in Canine Breeding 

 

Entry requirements
Students must have basic English literacy and numeracy skills.

 

Minimum education
Open entry. Previous schooling and academic achievements are not required for entry into this course.

Students will need access to a computer and the internet.
